Ages 13-17

Please note that our waiting list is currently closed to new entries for those aged under 14. For further information, please click here

Our Youth section is for those aged 13-17.

At this age, our focus moves more to official Surf Life Saving qualifications including the SLSGB solicited ‘Surf Lifesaver’ award. This qualification is an excellent stepping stone to the full Surf Lifeguard qualification that members can work towards when they are 16. It teaches invaluable skills both in Lifesaving sport and theory and in practical and theoretical first aid.

Many of our over 16 members work as lifeguards for multiple organisations and Leisure Centres including the RNLI, Hoburne Holiday Parks and Two Rivers Meet Leisure Centre.

However, we still focus throughout the year on Surf Lifesaving Sport, encouraging all our Youth members to participate in both PBCLSA Twilights and Wessex Championships in the pool and on the beach. These competitions contain a wide range of events including:

  • Surf Swimming

  • Boarding

  • Running

  • Sprints

  • Relays

  • Beach Flags

For a full list and for more details on each discipline, please see our Competitions Section.
